Hi everyone!
I am back at CanToo, training for the ocean swims again.
The photo on the left is proof that I did it...see the red face and the very unflattering goggle marks? I'm not ashamed to put a bad photo up...hee hee...in fact, I am incredibly proud of this photo. It was the culmination of three months of hard work and determination. This photo was taken after I'd raced in the Cole Classic - from Shelley Beach to Manly Beach. I was so, so proud of myself.
I tell you what, this whole program has been life-changing and just amazing. I hadn't swum more than 20 metres since year 7 in high school.
These amazing folk trained me so that at the end of the season, I actually went to Fiji on a swim safari with my new friends from CanToo. I swam around 2.5-3kms every day for five days, and finished by swimming in the first ever Yasawa Islands Ocean Swim Race.
I still can't believe that it was me, Jody Connor, who swam in the pool each week and who swam in the ocean each week. I saw little stingrays at sunrise, little fish travelled with me in the North Bondi rip as I was heading out the back for the point to point. I even swam with a dead shark (true story!) If I can do it - anyone can do it - YOU can do it. You can too! (sorry, couldn't resist)
Not only do you have a great time doing things you NEVER thought you could do, you meet some wonderfully good folk.
I would be forever grateful if you would help me reach my fundraising goal - no amount is too small. All of the money goes to Cure Cancer Australia. This is a group of beautiful people who fund research into cancer - these researchers give us hope - hope that we will one day save the life of a loved one.
Wish me luck! That water is miiiighty cold right now...
Love,
Jody xo
